The Vietnamese American Medical Association (VAMA) was established in the late 1980's. It served as a central national association which comprised of members from local chapters throughout the United States. VAMA's goals and missions is to provide an education forum to our members by offering annual conferences, serve our community via health fairs and medical talk shows, raising awareness about common ailments which is affecting our community. VAMA creates opportunities for our members, and friends to connect and form a networking of healthcare professional that share common Vietnamese heritage.
In addition, VAMA is a strong proponent to giving back to the community. Through the VAMA Foundation, VAMA is able to provide scholarships to medical students, participate in medical/dental missions to serve the disadvantage and assist in fund-raising for natural disasters victims such as the 2012 Sandy Storm.
